Have you or someone you know been charged with an offence under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario? Not sure what to do with your traffic ticket(s) or summons(es)? Don't pay your ticket! Fight it!
It’s very important that you hire the right paralegal to represent you. Does it make sense to hire a heart surgeon to perform a brain surgery? Hiring a lawyer or paralegal that doesn’t specialize in defending individuals and companies in Provincial Offences Court may not get you what you’re looking for.
Hiring a paralegal that knows the ins and outs of fighting traffic tickets is surely going to get you that much closer to getting the charge withdrawn or the next best thing.
Knowing what jurisdictions the paralegal works in, is another important note to make while choosing the right representative. Hiring a paralegal that works in the area where you were charged will assist in getting you results. Knowing who the charging officer, Prosecutors and Justice of the Peaces are in area is a critical advantage.
This is my region and as your paralegal, I bring my unique knowledge to your advantage.

Lorraine Shier started on her path to a legal career as an Administrative Clerk at the Provincial Offences Centre in the Town of Cochrane as a placement student and summer student. She developed a passion for law and quickly determined that her future lay in that direction.
Lorraine attended College Boreal and graduated from the Paralegal Program in 2005, and immediately upon graduation, started working as a Paralegal for a small firm in Northern Ontario. In 2006 was hired by the Town of Cochrane to act as the Municipal Prosecutor for Provincial Offences in the northern communities of Hornepayne, Hearst, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls and Cochrane.
In 2008 Lorraine was licensed with the Law Society of Upper Canada per new Provincial regulations and continued in that role until 2009.
In January 2010 she made the transition to Northern Defender, representing defendants who had been charged with any provincial offence, but mostly focussing on those charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Lorraine is a consummate professional, knowledgeable of the law and brings her experience from both sides in fighting your tickets. With the potential of higher insurance premiums or demerit points, Lorraine understands the importance of a clean driving record.
